Frequently Asked Questions

Q. What is the recall for?

A: On October 19, 2017 BSH Home Appliances Corporation, the manufacturer of Bosch dishwashers, voluntarily agreed, in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and Health Canada to expand its 2015 safety recall to replace the power cords on certain models of Bosch® brand dishwashers. The Bosch brand dishwashers were manufactured from September 2012 through January 2015 and sold through appliance and specialty retailers in the U.S. and Canada.

Q: Where were these dishwashers manufactured?

A: The dishwashers were manufactured in the United States and Germany.

Q: Why are the dishwashers being recalled?

A: The power cord can overheat posing a fire hazard.

Q: When does this problem occur?

A: In specific models, this problem can occur while the dishwasher is in operation. It does not occur when the dishwasher is not in operation.

Q: What is the repair solution and how long will it take?

A: As part of the recall, BSH will replace the power cord free of charge by an authorized service technician. The repair will take less than one hour. Consumers should stop using the recalled dishwashers and contact the safety recall hotline for a free repair. The safety recall hotline is (888) 965-5813.

Q: Can I repair my own dishwasher if the repair only involves the power cord?

A: Your safety is important to us. The repair involves an electrical component and must be completed by an authorized service technician.

Q: Can I continue to use my dishwasher until a repair is made?

A: If you have one of the models identified in the safety recall, stop using the appliance and contact the safety recall hotline immediately at (888) 965-5813, Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. EST.

Q: How can I identify if my dishwasher is part of the recall?

A: The dishwashers that are part of the recall can be identified by matching the model number and serial number listed in the safety recall notice. (Bosch serial numbers begin with “FD”) The model and serial numbers are located inside the dishwasher either on the top of the dishwasher inner door panel or on the side of the dishwasher panel. You can find an image of the location of the model and serial numbers on the link below:

Q. My dishwasher has a power cord and was not part of the recall. Why?

A. The power cord supplied with your dishwasher was made after January 2015 and does not pose a similar risk. If your dishwasher model was made prior to 2009 and is not listed, it is not part of this recall as the power connection for your dishwasher is made with a hardwire connection to the junction box located at the front of your dishwasher.
